Help our youngest learners start strong.
Did you know about 90 percent of a child's brain development happens before the age of 5? By placing tutors in preschool classrooms, our youngest learners get extra academic support and encouragement that helps ignite a love of learning and get them ready for school. But Early Learning Corps needs more people to give their time for kids to succeed. The amazing thing about our program - we train ordinary people to make an incredible impact as tutors.
Find Tutor OpportunitiesEarly Learning Corps has served 109,836 students.
We help young learners leap ahead.
Early Learning Corps promotes individualized learning experiences through play, song, instruction, activities, and conversation. The goal is to prepare preschoolers to be ready for Kindergarten — and it’s working:
- Preschool students achieve significantly higher assessment scores than their peers by the end of one year.
- Students demonstrate greater growth than their peers, regardless of gender, race, or dual language learner status.
Building Blocks for Success
We know young learners who receive regular exposure to literacy and numeracy-building activities are more likely to become successful students later in school. To reach the most students possible, Early Learning Corps is designed to support America’s preschools:
Effective
Early Learning Corps has proven to be effective in any setting. We’ve scaled nationally to benefit schools in urban, suburban, and rural community – all with successful outcomes!
Proven
Preschoolers who received tutoring substantially outperformed their peers in emergent literacy outcomes.
Economical
Our programs provide a good value for schools by providing hundreds of hours of support for the students and staff. Some locations pay a site fee.
FAST FACTS

Early Learning Corps students outperform students at comparison sites on key emergent literacy outcomes, including measures of vocabulary, phonological awareness, and alphabet knowledge.

Ninety-nine percent of school partners, including principals, would recommend Early Learning Corps to others.
Early Learning Corps Infant and Toddler Initiative
Our team works to research, pilot, evaluate, and scale new ways to help kids go further. Out of that research and evaluation comes new initiatives to explore potential solutions for emerging needs – like our Infant and Toddler Initiative.
Every moment of connection with a child in their first 1,000 days of life has an impact. Interactions and relationships between infants, toddlers and their important caregivers are key to the developing brain. As part of the Infant and Toddler Initiative, AmeriCorps members serve as Early Learning Partners and provide support for children during their first years of life. Working closely with a team of educators and caregivers at an Early Head Start or childcare site, they enhance daily activities, help our youngest learners build important skills and support essential caregivers.
