J’uana Jones

“The students make it all worth it. I’m shy and I don’t have a teaching background, but the students helped me. They show me the difference I’m making.”

J’uana always knew she had a knack for math. She had done well in school and her family members always came to her for help with difficult math problems. Therefore serving with Math Corps just made sense. “I love math and was already tutoring my family. So I thought, why not help others as well?”

While working on math interventions with her students, J’uana has come to recognize that they are capable of much more than they think. Sometimes a student just needs a little extra support and encouragement to realize that they can do it. J’uana enjoyed her first year with Math Corps so much that she is coming back for another year and is now considering going back to school to become a teacher!
