Rachelle Anderson

“I have seen the results – emotionally, intellectually, and socially – as children grow throughout the year and it’s just amazing. I feel very lucky to be part of an organization that is really working to do good things for kids.”

After 16 years of teaching, Rachelle knows how critical reading is to school success and developing a love of learning. She was shocked to learn just how many Minnesota preschoolers aren’t ready to learn in kindergarten and decided to do something about it.

Every day as a PreK Reading Corps tutor, Rachelle helps the children in her Head Start classroom to build a foundation for their future learning with songs, writing practice, read-alouds, and constructive play. She says that as she’s building trusting relationships with the preschoolers and watching them grow, she’s also strengthening and diversifying her own skills as an educator.
