Launched in 2013, Iowa Reading Corps supports kindergarten through third grade students in school districts across the state. Since then, we've helped more than 12,600 local students get on track to succeed! The program is a replication of the successful Minnesota model and is operated by local United Ways.

“This randomized study of the effectiveness of Reading Corps, conducted by University of Chicago researcher, was very well designed and implemented. The investigators found extremely large effects on pre-reading skills in Kindergarten and large effects for oral reading growth in first grade. This study adds to the large body of evidence supporting the use of Reading Corps volunteers to significantly improve the literacy skills of student from preschool to grade 3.”
