Who Can Join
Are you ready to make a difference? Reading Corps and Math Corps is perfect for recent grads, career changers, parents and retirees!
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Are 18 or older when you begin your service
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Are a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.*
- Have not already served more than 3 terms in AmeriCorps
* Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.
The Perks of Being a Tutor
All tutors receive:
- Stipend every two weeks
- An education award for tuition or student loans*
- Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment for qualified student loans.
Full-time tutors also receive:
- Individual Health Insurance (with no monthly premium)
- Child care assistance (based on family size and income)
*Tutors who are 55+ may choose to gift the education award to their child, grandchild or foster child.

Locations

Schedule
Tutors serve during the school day (Monday – Friday). With options to serve 40, 35, 25 or 18 hours a week, we’re sure to have an opportunity that works for you! schedule that works for you!
Service Term
We are currently recruiting for the 2021-2022 school year. Tutors can choose to begin in serve:
- August 2021 – June 2022
- October 2021 – June 2022
- January 2022 – June 2022

Application Process

Ready
Submit your application and complete a phone interview with a member of our team. Together we'll tackle any questions you may have and make sure this opportunity is right for you.

Set
Interview at a Reading Corps or Math Corps site or office near you. In some cases, phone interviews are an option, but we love to meet potential tutors in person!

Go
Complete paperwork and online attend training (offered in August, October and January).
Tutor Benefits

Tuition & Loan Repayment
Earn an education award to pay tuition or repay student loans. Tutors 55 and older can transfer their awards to their child, grandchild or foster child. Student loan forbearance is also available.

Living Stipend
To help with your living expenses while you serve, you’ll receive a check every two weeks.

You’ll build skills such as professionalism and communication, and will gain invaluable experience working in a school setting.

Health Insurance
Serve full-time as a tutor and you're eligible for health insurance with no monthly premiums
