Who Can Join

Are you ready to make a difference? Reading Corps and Math Corps is perfect for recent grads, career changers, parents and retirees!

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Are 18 or older when you begin your service
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Are a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.*
  • Have not already served more than 3 terms in AmeriCorps 

* Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.

The Perks of Being a Tutor

All tutors receive: 

  • Stipend every two weeks
  • An education award for tuition or student loans*
  • Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment for qualified student loans.

Full-time tutors also receive:

  • Individual Health Insurance (with no monthly premium)
  • Child care assistance (based on family size and income)

*Tutors who are 55+ may choose to gift the education award to their child, grandchild or foster child.

Schedule

Tutors serve during the school day (Monday – Friday). With options to serve 40, 35, 25 or 18 hours a week, we’re sure to have an opportunity that works for you! schedule that works for you! 

Service Term

We are currently recruiting for the 2021-2022 school year. Tutors can choose to begin in serve:

  • August 2021 – June 2022
  • October 2021 – June 2022
  • January 2022 – June 2022

Tuition & Loan Repayment

Earn an education award to pay tuition or repay student loans. Tutors 55 and older can transfer their awards to their child, grandchild or foster child. Student loan forbearance is also available.
