Getting kids back on track!

Our Results

In 2003, our first year, Minnesota Reading Corps served 250 children. Today, we’re the nation’s largest AmeriCorps tutoring program and serving nearly 30,000 children each year. To date, our tutors have helped more than 200,000 struggling Minnesota students become strong readers by the end of third grade.

Making Minnesota stronger, one syllable at a time.

From Roseau up north to Albert Lea down south, our tutors are helping students make big gains in reading and get on track for future success. Mastering reading by the end of third grade helps position students to be more capable learners in grades 4-12!

At a Glance

During the 2016-17 school year, Minnesota Reading Corps tutors were placed in schools and preschools across the state. Spending 20 minutes a day with each student, they made incredible gains possible and helped thousands of children to get back on track with reading!

The Stories

Northeast Range School, Babbitt

I can see the struggling readers turn into really great readers in a short amount of time. And I just think, if we didn’t have that program, where would those kids be?

Jeannette Ledesma

I get a sense of immense pride when the students make gains in the right direction and start to feel confident in the other aspects of their life and schooling.
